The Jordaan area of Amsterdam is one of the most historical in the city. Excellently central, it's perfect for exploring this vibrant city on foot. Whether you're visiting on business or pleasure, you'll find this location ideal. Within walking distance or a short tram or taxi ride away is Central Station, ideal for airport transfers or meetings in other parts of the city or country. For tourists, there's plenty to do here. Just a short walk away is the famous Anne Frank House, where the Frank family hid from the Nazis during the Second World War. A little further is Dam Square, home to the beautiful Royal Palace. This palace was formerly the primary residence of the Dutch royal family but is now open to the public. You'll also find plenty of opportunities for shopping in and around this square, with the city's department stores all based here. For slightly more unique purchases, head to the Nine Streets. There are plenty of restaurants in this area, and you can choose from a variety of eclectic international cuisine, including Indonesian, Italian and Turkish.
