Exposed wooden ceiling joists are visible throughout the apartment and you will find warm wooden flooring under foot. There are three bedrooms each decorated in calming creamy colours to encourage a restful ambience and a good night’s sleep. Two rooms are fitted with double beds whilst the third has two singles. The apartment is divided on to two floors and one of the bedrooms is up in the loft part of the building so you will find a very romantic sleeping area with sloping walls and pretty velux windows. The living room is immaculately presented with comfortable contemporary furnishings somehow blending effortlessly with the historic surroundings. Relax with your guests on the large comfy sofa and armchair and enjoy the flat screen TV also provided for your entertainment. Share a bottle of wine with your guests on the pretty balcony overlooking the water. If you are feeling peckish then head to the kitchen and dining area where you will find a fully fitted food preparation area and a good sized dining table and chairs. This is also a great place to lay out those huge city maps when you are deciding where in the city to explore tomorrow. The apartment has a private bathroom fitted with a shower, sink and toilet as well as a second toilet to avoid any uncomfortable queuing.

The Jordaan Nine Streets apartment can be found in the Canal Belt district of the city just seconds from the Prinsengracht Canal itself. This stunning tree lined waterway is littered with pretty houseboats and beautiful 18th century leaning town houses. Head north (or clockwise) along the canal and you will eventually reach the most famous address in Holland, number 263 Prinsengracht. This is the home of Holland’s most visited museum, the Anne Frank House. You can learn about Anne and her family and friends’ lives in the tiny rooftop annexe here where they hid from the Nazi regime during the war. You are able to climb through the secret doorway into their hide-away as well as see Anne’s actual diary and notes. The museum offers an insight into the history of ‘tolerance’ around the world and encourages visitors to consider their own actions in the future. This is certainly an enlightening, moving and thought provoking experience for visitors of all ages. Since the museum is extremely popular all year round it is advisable to get there as early as possible in order to avoid the extremely long queues that occur particularly in the summer months.
