The De Pijp area of Amsterdam is known for attracting young professionals and being a hip young neighbourhood for it. Bars and cafes line the streets here and you'll find a range of restaurants serving international cuisine, as well as local Dutch specialities. You'll also find shops and supermarkets should you wish to cook at home. Perhaps the most famous vendors here, however, can be found in the Albert Cuyp market, which is worth a stroll around even if you're not planning on buying anything. There's plenty of open space here, a luxury so close to the city centre. Try the Sarphati Park, the perfect place to enjoy a summer's day. The Heineken Brewery is also in this area and is hugely popular with visitors. If you wish to visit the centre of the city, you can reach it in less than 15 minutes by tram, or why not hire a bike and experience Amsterdam the way the locals do? |
