This apartment is located in the 9 Streets, a series of streets making up part of the Amsterdam Central Canal Belt close to Dam Square. The 9 Streets are best known for the specialty shops, boutiques, cafes, restaurants and bars that line them. It is a charming area to explore and exceptionally close to the centre of the city. Dam Square is a mere few minutes walk away and here you will find the traditional centre of Amsterdam. This is where the Amstel was damned several hundred years ago to create the city and today the square is home to the stunning Royal Palace, Madame Tussauds, The New Church, National Monument and De Bijenkorf department store. Just off the square you will find several of the city's best known shopping streets, cafes, restaurants, bars, China Town, The Red Light District and Central Station. The Central Canal Belt itself is a UNESCO World Heritage site and it is easy to see why with the elegant canal houses that line the streets. Some of these canal houses, including Museum Van Loom, can be visited and it is interesting to see how rich Dutch merchants lived during the Golden Age. There is so much to see and do just outside your front door, however if you do wish to get out and explore more of the city, trams and buses can be found close to the apartment. |
