Just a few metres from your accommodation you will also discover the picturesque expanse of the Oosterpark, a serene sanctuary perfect for absorbing the sunshine on a warm summer’s day.
In the corner of the park resides the imposing building of the Tropenmuseum, one of the largest museums in the Netherlands and a wonderful day out for the whole family. Established in the 1920s as a collection of photographs and objects from former Dutch colonies, this cultural treasure trove has become one of the best anthropological museums around, and boasts an impressive and extensive exhibition of non western artefacts, music and film. After an enlightening and educational afternoon, why not head north of your apartment to the Ij Brewery, which is accessible in just five minutes on foot.
