This delightful city central holiday home takes up three floors of a beautiful old town house. You will immediately step inside an excellent modern kitchen where you can prepare all your own delicious meals during your stay in the city. Enjoy your culinary creations here at the dining table and chairs also provided. Head up the winding stairs to reach the living area which features a mezzanine balcony, comfortable sofa and television. The upper floor contains two bedrooms, one fitted with a double bed and the second a single. Both rooms feature excellent storage for your clothes and travel belongings and pretty ambient lighting. You will also find an excellent private bathroom with a shower, sink and toilet.

Gardenstreet Apartment Location

The Gardenstreet Apartment is located just a few minutes’ walk away form the majestic Prinsengracht Canal in the Jordaan district. This enchanting neighbourhood of parallel streets remained incredibly overcrowded and poverty stricken for centuries. Today it has become one of the most sought after locations to live in the Netherlands. You are sure to enjoy exploring the many interesting shops, cafes and boutiques here and some fabulous architecture to boot. Look out for the interesting stone tablets on the facades of many of the buildings in the area. They denote the professions or the family name of the original inhabitants, some of them dating back to the 16th century. This could be a pair of scissors, meaning a tailor or perhaps a pig for a butcher’s establishment. Some of them have been beautifully restored and painted.

The neighbourhood also boasts some wonderful local markets, Noordermarkt, Lindengracht and Westerstra 2 at 1ffe , selling everything from fabric and food to second hand items and vintage clothing.

The Prinsengracht itself is one of four great canals that drape around the oldest part of the city like a stunning necklace collectively known as the Canal Belt. Wander north or clockwise and you will eventually come to house number 263. This is the world famous address of Anne Frank who of course hid from the Nazi regime with her family and friends until here unfortunate discovery. Here at the county’s most popular museum, the Anne Frank House, you can learn all about the terrible realities of living in secret during the Occupation and about the history of ‘tolerance’ around the world. A visit here will be a very moving and enlightening experience for visitors of all ages.
