Nassau Residence Location
|
The Nassau Residence is conveniently located within easy reach of many of the city’s most popular attractions in the De Costabuurt district, just west of the old centre. 15 minutes’ walk south lies the beautiful Vondelpark. The largest of the many city parks in Amsterdam’s centre, it measures a mile in length. It is also by far the most popular open space in the city attracting over 10 million visitors every year. A favourite with both local people as well as tourists all year round there are three different cafes to stop off at as you make your way round. Arguably the prettiest is the Blue Tea House in the centre of the park that was built in 1937 in typical Art Deco style. It has an almost 360 degree upper terrace where you can enjoy a cup of frothy coffee and watch the wild parrots swooping and diving above your head. A 9 minute walk from the apartment will bring you to one of the city’s most popular entertainment areas, the Leidseplein, also known as Leidse Square. This large plaza incorporates shops, huge hotels, theatres, cafes, cinemas, a gig and concert hall, nightclubs, bars, countless international eateries and even a delightful fountain. There is always something exciting going on here both day and night and it’s a great place to observe some talented street theatricals in the summer months. A walk to Dam Square takes around 20 minutes winding you through some of the city’s most beautiful districts including the astounding Canal Belt, so iconic and synonymous with Amsterdam and the wonderful Jordaan nearby. You may prefer to hop on a tram to and from Central Station. The journey takes around 12 minutes, depending on traffic and there are two major tram lines running just a few minutes walk away to the north and the south on De Clercqstraat and the Kinkerstraat. |
