Location
Just around the corner, you’re right in the middle of a market square (the Nieuwmarkt). Surrounded by more then a dozen cafés and restaurants, anchored by de Waag, an early 17th century Weigh House, now also a bar-restaurant. Within easy walking distance (5 to 10 minutes) you’ll find the Central station, the Rembrandt house, the Waterlooplein flea market, the Jewish historical museum, Amsterdam's Chinatown and many more cafés and restaurants. The main shopping street (Kalverstraat) is 10 minutes away and on the Dam square (in front of the Royal Palace) you’ll see the Bijenkorf department store. Need some air? Take the free ferry behind the Central station, cross the main river (IJ) and have a beer at the IJ-Kantine café.
