Christmas Canal Parade
The Winter Magic Amsterdam festival features spectacular events during the holiday season along with the possibilty to enjoy a canal cruise every evening in boats that have been specially decorated with lights and colors for the occassion.The festival we be officially opened by the mayor of Amsterdam in december after which the decorated boats can be seen cruising through the canals of Amsterdam.
And of course you don’t want to miss the main event, the Christmas Canal Parade on the 23rd of December when some 40 boats decorated with lights, music, costumes etc will parade through the Prinsengracht, a delight to watch for young and old alike. The parade will start at the Brouwersgracht at 19:00 and end on the Amstel at 21:00. The crowds on the bridges can enjoy warm wine and hot chocolate. Choirs will line the edges of the canals, infusing the event with a magical dose of Christmas cheer.
