Plaza Catalunya A Location
|
The Plaza Catalunya A apartment is named after the nearby city square measuring an incredible 50,000 square metres. Its location is at the point where the oldest part of the city (Barri Gotic and El Raval) meets the newer 19th century Eixample district. This is also the point that many of the city’s major avenues come together including the Passeig de Gràcia and La Rambla. Known for its beautiful fountains and statues it is a popular meeting point for locals, visitors to the city and many thousands of pigeons. A five minute walk to the west brings you to the famous La Rambla, an incredibly busy tree lined market street that stretches 1.2 kms down to the port. Here you will see a real cross section of Catalan society with stall upon stall selling all kinds of produce. Look out for the street sellers with cages of singing colourful birds. They are extremely popular with photographers. Since this is an extremely busy area and therefore popular with pick pockets it is sensible to keep your valuables out of sight at all times. To avoid the busiest crowds pay a visit as early in the day as possible. You are sure to love the creative human statues that silently will you to donate your loose change. The apartment is serviced by excellent public transport links with Catalunya metro just a 7 minute walk away and just 6 minutes’ walk to Placa de Catalunya station. |
