The location of this apartment is ideal - the Eixample is known as a residential area but it's still extremely central so you get to enjoy living like a local while still being close enough to all the attractions to view them easily. The area is filled with shops and supermarkets should you wish to buy food to cook at home, but there are plenty of cafes and restaurants here too, so you'll be spoiled for choice. For simple Catalan food, try Restaurant Sant Joan. The apartment is just a couple of blocks away from the Avinguda Diagonal, which is a long street with plenty of shops and hotels. You'll find L'Illa mall here, with stores like Zara and H&M. For more high-end shopping at boutiques such as Chanel and Hermes, try the Passeig de Gracia, just off the Gran Via. You'll also find plenty of examples of the Modernist architecture Barcelona is so famous for, including two buildings designed by Gaudi. Also in this district is the Gaudi-designed Sagrada Familia. Although it's within walking distance, you can take the metro here. Famous for its combination of Art Nouveau and Gothic architecture, the cathedral is breathtaking. You can visit the top of the tower for an unforgettable view across the city. |
