The city of Berlin has undergone enormous changes in the past 100 years. The city has risen to the urban and environmental challenges of rebuilding itself. Most of Berlin was destroyed after the second world war, but many landmarks have either been restored or reconstructed. There is some wonderful architecture, both old and new, side by side.
After the fall of the wall, historic areas like Potsdamer Platz and Pariser Platz were completely revamped. Since the unification Berlin has once again been the capital of Germany and home to the German Parliament, the “Bundestag”. Berlin is one of the greatest European cities: lively, dynamic and inviting.
