Apartment Galata Tower VIP B Location
This apartment is located only a hundred meters away from the Galata Tower. The Galata district used to be a Genoese settlement in the Middle Ages. Today it is a bohemian area which attracts artists, writers and intellectuals. Climb the Galata Tower to get a beautiful view of the city built on seven hills and on the Bosphoros.
Go for a walk to the Golden Horn which is an inlet of the Bosphoros dividing Istanbul and forming the natural harbor. Close by is the Topkapi Palace which was the residence of the Ottoman sultans from 1465 to 1856. Construction began in 1459 ordered by sultan Mehmed II who conquered the Byzantine Constantinople. This palace has 4 main courtyards and many small buildings.
Interesting is the Imperial Harem which was the home of the Valide sultan or the mother of the sultan with the concubines and their children and the eunuchs. It contained more than 400 rooms. Istanbul was the capital of the Ottoman Empire and this city was also the Caliphate of the Sunni Muslims. So it has many beautiful mosques.
The Sultan Achmed Mosque or the Blue Mosque because it has blue tiles on the walls in the interior. It was built between 1609 and 1616 during the rule of Sultan Ahmed I. It comprises the tomb of the founder, a madrasah and a hospice. It is still used a mosque but it has become a tourist attraction.
