Home to many iconic buildings from Russia's extremely colourful past, Moscow is deservedly the Russian capital and is a true centre for both politics and economy.
City information about Moscow for our short stay apartment guests.
Moscow is the capital and the largest city of Russia. The city has a population of around 13 million. It is the site of the Moscow Kremlin, one of the World Heritage Sites, which serves as the residence of the President of Russia. The Russian parliament (the State Duma and the Federation Council) and the Government of Russia also sit in Moscow.
Moscow’s architecture is world-renowned. Moscow is also well-known as the site of Saint Basil’s Cathedral, with its elegant onion domes, as well as the Cathedral of Christ the Savior and the Seven Sisters.
More than anywhere else in the country, it is in Moscow where the Soviet past collides with the capitalist future. Lenin's Mausoleum remains intact, but today it faces the newly chic GUM, which is becoming ever more akin to Macy's or Harrod's.
