The apartment is located at just a short distance from Place de la Republique, a city square in central Paris found on the border of the 3rd, 10th and 11th arrondissements. The square has a long history but began to take its current form at the start of the 19th century. A huge military barracks was built there in 1854, which now hosts the French Republican Guard.
