This apartment is located in the 5th arrondissement in the city’s famed Latin Quarter. This arrondissement is one of the oldest parts of Paris and contains the Arenas de Lutece a Roman amphitheatre dating from the 1st century CE. The Latin Quarter is home to the University of Paris also known as Sorbonne, one of the oldest University's in Europe dating from somewhere between 1160 and 1250. During the Middle Ages the professors and students of the University spoke Latin, which is where the district gets its name. The district is filled with cafes, restaurants and bars so there is no shortage of places to enjoy dinner or a drink after exploring the neighbourhood. The apartment is also just a short distance from Ile de la Cite, the island that is home to Notre Dame and also within walking distance of the Louvre and Jardin de Tuileries. It is also well served by public transport making it easy to get around and see the rest of the city. |
