Location
The River apartment is the ideal holiday home on the banks of the Vltava River. Located in the exclusive New Town district, which is not exactly new since it was founded in 1348 by Charles IV just outside the city walls. A short stroll away is Charles Square, one of the largest squares in the world and very likely the largest medieval square in Europe.
Also around the corner is the extraordinary Dancing House by architect Frank Ghery in cooperation with Czech architect Vlado Miluni. A house in the Neo-renaissance style from the end of the 19th century which was destroyed during bombings in 1945. A Dutch Bank took it over and comissioned Ghery to create an icon. The building finished in 1996, reflects a woman and man dancing together – Ginger Rogers and Fred Astair.
In the neighbourhood there is a wide range of restaurants and pubs including the wonderful Pivovarsky Dum Micro-Brewery and Restaurant, where you can taste beers with such diverse flavours as coffee, banana or cherry.
Within walking distance to all major attractions and monuments and conveniently enough the square is now one of the main transport hubs of the city centre with metro station Karlovo náměstí and numerous tram lines and busy roads crossing it in all directions.
