The Lange Voorhout is one of the most famous and oldest streets in The Netherlands. In 1404 countess Margaretha van Kleef donated this ground to the Dominican monks and they built a street leading to the monastery church which they also built. Through the next centuries this church was rebuilt and you can see this Kloosterkerk as it stands now. Another impressive building on this street is Hotel Des Indes. In 1858 it was built as a palace. This hotel is majestic and is known for the famous guests who once stayed here. The famous Russian ballet dancer Anna Pavlova died in this hotel in 1931. The Hague also has some nice museums. The Mauritshuis museum is a relatively small museum with about 800 paintings mainly from the Dutch Masters form the Golden Age or 17th century. The Bull from Paulus Potter is worthwhile seeing and you can also admire many paintings from Johannes Vermeer like the View on Delft and the Girl with the Pearl. If you want to see more of The Netherlands you can see it in Madurodam. This is a miniature city or a model of a Dutch town on a 1:25 scale. All the important buildings or places in Holland are in Madurodam as models. You can see the famous Dom Church of Utrecht, the canals of Amsterdam, the Schiphol airport with planes and the port of Rotterdam with many ships. This port is the biggest in Europe.
