Location

Jordaan Marnix Apartment A affords an authentic location on the edge of the charming Jordaan district, a neighbourhood that originated in the 1600s as an extension to the city, developed to house the rapidly increasing labour force. The Jordaan became popular when a new generation of young entrepreneurs, artists and students transformed the quarter into one of the trendiest and most desirable in the capital, whilst simultaneously preserving its distinctive character and historical architecture. The result is a lovely area comprised of narrow cobbled avenues, cosy cafes, excellent restaurants, superb boutiques and a series of hidden inner courtyards.

Whilst exploring the Jordaan, be sure to visit the nearby Noorderkerk (Northern Church), a stunning 17th century structure that inhabits a quaint square, home to a delightful organic farmer’s market on Saturday. This is the ideal locale to sample authentic Dutch cuisine and immerse yourself in the friendly and laid back atmosphere. Also close by is the eclectic Haarlemmerstraat, consistently voted the best shopping street in the Netherlands due to its endearing collection of independent stores, and a base to the oldest cinema in the city: The Movies. This Amsterdam institution dates back to 1912, and with its art deco interior is a must-see for any film enthusiast.
