Montelbaan houseboat Amsterdam

Montelbaan houseboat Amsterdam offers two guests the unique experience of living on a houseboat in the city centre of Amsterdam.

Moored along one of Amsterdam's canals, this beautiful holiday home boasts 100 square metres of space and is surprisingly bright due to lots of side windows and large skylights. The décor is a muted cream colour with attractive wooden floors and ceiling. The delightful living area is ideal for relaxing after long days out exploring the city. Chose to recline on the sofa or perhaps you would prefer to take an afternoon snooze in the hammock that hangs from the ceiling. A wonderful fitted kitchen allows you to conjure up anything from a tasty snack to a delicious three course meal during you stay. You can serve up your creations at the dining table here or upstairs in the boat’s wheelhouse. On warmer summer months you can sit out on the deck and enjoy watching the activities on the water.

The bedroom features a double bed and you will also find an attractive bathroom with a sink, shower and toilet. Whether you are visiting the city for leisure or business purposes, this outstanding houseboat makes an ideal base and guarantees a memorable stay.

Montelbaan houseboat Amsterdam can be found moored along one of the city’s prettiest canals just a short walk from Amsterdam Central Station. Directly opposite you will see the romantic Montelbaan Tower which was painted by Rembrandt. It’s no surprise that he chose this famous landmark since his house was located nearby. You can explore the interior of this monumental building which has been refurbished with authentic objects from the mid-17th century to recreate how it would have looked at the time of his residence. Known simply as the Rembrandt House Museum and located on Jodenbreestraat, it also incorporates a gallery of his etchings and drawings. Turn the corner on your immediate left as you leave the Rembrandt House Museum and you will find yourself in the wonderful Waterlooplein Flea Market which is the best place in town to pick up unusual souvenirs of your holiday in Amsterdam. Dig deep in the piles of vintage clothing and boxes of bric-a-brac to find buried treasures. The delightful Nieuwmarkt district, China Town and the Red Light District are just an 8 minute walk away west of the apartment. The excellent Science Museum known as NEMO is also just a short walk away to the north. You can’t miss its huge building which rises out of the water like the bow of a ship. Children will particularly like to visit here as it has a strictly hands-on approach to its interactive exhibitions. In the warmer months you can join local Amsterdammers on the roof or ‘deck’ of NEMO to enjoy the amazing views of the city and some sun bathing.

This was the second time I used Amsterdamapartments .com and on both occasions my expectations from the accommodation I booked has been exceeded. The service from the booking staff was excellent, helpful and knowledgable and the quality of the accommodation was first class. I would definitely recommend using them!

I can't imagine a better place to stay in Amsterdam: the boat is within easy walking reach of transit, services, and most cultural attractions, yet a restful haven from the busy streets.

There is no better way to experience Amsterdam then from this house boat. We stayed with two kids (10 and 8 year old) - there's a playground on the other side of the canal, not to mention nemo on walking distance, Carre theatre at a strolling distance and plenty of cool pubs for mum and dad to sneak to when the kids are asleep. Just sitting on the boat having a breakfast or a beer in the afternoon is in itself a treat! The people who own the boat are very friendly and helpful.
