This Paris accommodation can be found in the capital’s 5th arrondissement, renowned for its intellectual heart of the city. The legendary Sorbonne University is mostly responsible for the area’s historical scholarly achievements, and certainly deserves inclusion on the day’s itinerary. Established in the twelfth century and still educating students to this day, the university is unfortunately off limits to the general public, although the main entrance offers a wonderful viewpoint and a host of charming cafes to rest your weary limbs.

Also in the neighbourhood and recommended particularly to first time visitors is the striking Pantheon, constructed in the 1700s and displaying a truly exceptional style of early neo-classicalism. Originally intended as a church, the Pantheon now functions as a secular mausoleum, housing the remains of such distinguished French citizens as Voltaire, Marie Curie and Victor Hugo. Other options for the day’s activity and easily accessible on foot is the impressive Museum of the Arab World and the Saint Michel district and fountain. The French National Museum of Natural History and the breathtaking Jardin des Plantes, an expansive botanical garden, reside directly opposite your doorstep.
