The Marais is enigmatic. The Marais is bohemian chic and trendy, the most fashionable neighbourhood in Paris. Hype galleries, niche boutiques, good restaurants, artsy bars are all amongst the most amazing architecture, picturesque squares and cobbled stones avenues. You can practically walk to all of the historic sights of Paris, located on the third arrondissement it boasts more pre-revolutionary structures than any other district. This apartment is located within a hundred metres of place de la République and the Square du Temple, where a Templar monastery used to be – later becoming a prison that incarcerated such historical figures as Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. It opened as a public park in the mid 19th century and it's currently an idyllic environment for a relax stroll or a picnic. Nearby is the Centre Georges Pompidou, a complex in the Beaubourg that houses the Bibliothèque publique d'information, IRCAM, a centre for music and acoustic research, and the high-tech Musée National d'Art Modern, the largest museum of modern art in Europe. The Place Georges Pompidou is noted for the presence of street performers, such as mimes and jugglers. Miniature carnivals are installed in the spring, offering a wide variety of attractions: bands, caricature, sketch artists and surprises that defy the imagination. Being right at the centre of Paris, transportation is not an issue.
