Wander north for 10 minutes to reach the city’s fantastic zoo and aquarium known as Artis. Keen gardeners will particularly enjoy a visit to the Hortus Bontanicus, Amsterdam’s horticultural gardens which are partly housed under giant glass domes to create hot house growing environments for the tropical plants inside. Explore all things unique and unusual at the city’s infamous Waterlooplein Flea Market or take a leisurely stroll along the eastern banks of the River Amstel. Whilst Dam Square and Central Station are accessible on foot, visitors carrying heavy luggage might prefer to hop aboard the tram which handily trundles past the apartment. The architecture of the latter musuem resembles the hull of a huge ship rising from the water and the very top of the structure boasts a public viewing deck where people often gather to soak up the sun’s rays on warm cloudless days in the summer months.
