The Gergiev Festival is a cross-border symphonic festival featuring the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. This internationally renowned event offers broad programming on a different theme each year, under the artistic direction of world-class conductor Valery Gergiev.
The ten-day Gergiev Festival has been held since 1996 and includes concerts, master classes and performances especially for children. New generations of musicians offer fresh interpretations of familiar masterpieces; opera, symphonic works and chamber music engage in dialogue with film and other art forms. Valery Gergiev, principal conductor of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra from 1995 to 2008, is still affiliated as an honorary conductor.
